I enjoyed The Men Who Stare at Goats. It’s pretty funny and entertaining. George Clooney is a true star – he looks great, he has a great voice, and he’s really fun to watch. If you think about his career, he has tackled all kinds of roles without being a very good actor and that’s because he has such charm and charisma on screen you simply don’t care how good (or not good) his acting is. He’s a bit like Robert Redford in that way. Plus he tends to make and participate in films that are kind of subversive – I really like that about him. This film has a lot of funny things to say or imply about our government, our military, and paranormal phenomenon in general.
Anyway, I don’t have much else to say about the movie. It’s light fun, with Clooney at the center, being his normal, charming self, carrying the show. It’s not a great film, but my wife and I felt very satisfied at the end of the film, and that does not happen very often these days!
